President Barack Obama is set to address the election of Donald Trump to the American people on Wednesday afternoon.

Obama's speech is scheduled for 12:15 p.m. Eastern at the White House. It comes just minutes after Hillary Clinton wrapped up her concession speech at a New York City hotel.

Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama were among the most active campaigners for Clinton's cause during her hopeful run to the presidency. Clinton's election would have been seen by many as an affirmation of Obama's eight years in the White House.
