CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) -- Talk about an absentee ballot! Astronaut Shane Kimbrough has cast this vote from the International Space Station. He's due back from orbit in February.

A 1997 Texas law allows U.S. astronauts to vote from space. For NASA astronauts, home is Houston when they're not circling the globe.

A secure electronic ballot is forwarded to the astronauts by Mission Control in Houston and returned by email to the county clerk.

Before launch last month, Kimbrough told reporters that astronauts are "pretty much apolitical." But Kimbrough added he'll be "glad to welcome the new president, whoever that is."
