Chips Ahoy cookies recalled because of 'unexpected' ingredient

Mondelez Global LLC, the company that produces Chips Ahoy cookies, announced Saturday they are voluntary recalling some of their famous cookies.

The recall affects Chewy Chips Ahoy 13-ounce cookies because some of the product may contain an "unexpected solidified ingredient."

There have been some reports of potential adverse health effects, according to a statement on the Chips Ahoy website. Consumers who have the product should not eat them.

The recalled cookies were sold at stores nationwide and have the following numbers on the packaging:

  • Best When Used By Dates (Located on left top side of package by lift tab):
