BIRMINGHAM, Alabama — A man who walked 20 miles to get to his first day of work is being rewarded with the CEO's personal car, WBMA reports.

The night before Walter Carr was supposed to start his new job at Bellhops Moving, his car reportedly broke down.

So what did Carr do? He started walking around midnight on Friday from Homewood to Pelham; more than 20 miles.

Pelham police officers picked him up and took him to eat breakfast before dropping him off at a woman's home half an hour before the moving appointment.

The woman posted on Facebook, and the post eventually reached the company's headquarters.

That's when the company CEO gave Carr his personal Ford Escape.

"I wanted to show them that I have the dedication, and that I always have [it] in my life and that I am going to get to this job one way or the other," Carr told WBMA. "(I) tell people if you think over 20 miles is a lot, then come walk in my shoes, because my shoes was really killing me that day."
