DOVER, Del. (AP) — A University of Delaware professor has tested positive for the coronavirus.
The development has prompted school officials to cancel classes for the rest of the week.
They also have moved up spring break to this weekend, and plan to teach classes online when the semester resumes.
The professor is Delaware's first known case of the virus.
University officials said in a news release Wednesday that the instructor was exposed to a confirmed coronavirus case in another state and self-isolated at home as soon as symptoms appeared.
Epidemiologists are working to identify any other people who were possibly exposed.
