Leticia Guzman, 25, was arrested after detectives received information from a local hospital that a woman had come to the hospital showing physical signs of recently giving birth, although the female denied to medical personnel of having been pregnant.

After locating Guzman, officials conducted a search warrant of her residence and located evidence of childbirth there.

Following an interview with police, Guzman acknowledged that she had given birth to the baby and "had left the baby at a location that she said she could not recall." She also provided information inconsistent with evidence recovered by investigators.

Guzman was transported to the Central Processing Unit in Rockville and has been charged via a criminal warrant with child neglect and reckless endangerment.

The baby girl remains in stable condition and is currently under the care and custody of the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services – Child Welfare Services Program.
