A wounded warrior got a special surprise on Veterans Day thanks to the help of more than 200 volunteers.

Army Captain Luis Avila was in Afghanistan back in 2011 when an IED exploded. Capt. Avila survived, but lost a leg and now is in a wheelchair, with limited mobility.

Thanks to the Gary Sinise Foundation, Capt. Avila will have a new start at life in his North Chevy Chase home. It's one of 52 smart homes built by the foundation, which offers wounded veterans forever homes.

Capt. Avila, his wife and their three children are expected to move in soon.
