POINT OF ROCKS, Md. (WMAR) — A Virginia woman was hit by a freight train Thursday morning at a MARC station in Frederick County.
It happened just before 8 a.m. on Clay Street in Point of Rocks.
Maryland State Police say 36-year-old Natalie Green was crossing a pedestrian walkway towards the station platform when she was struck.
She was flown by helicopter to a hospital where she's continuing to receive treatment.
The train was carrying vehicles at the time with only the conductor and engineer aboard.
Both told police they sounded the train's audible signal before the incident, which witnesses confirmed on scene.
The involved train line remains closed while all others are open.
Maryland State and CSX Police are leading the investigation.
