BALTIMORE — A Baltimore woman was sentenced Thursday to 13-years behind bars for stabbing her husband to death inside a Johns Hopkins Hospital room, in October 2017.

Prosecutors say Anita Nicole Jones and Christopher Yancey, Sr. were at the hospital as one of their children was undergoing an emergency surgery.

Jones reportedly ran out of the room, falsely telling hospital staff that Yancey had cut himself.

Yancey was found on the floor unresponsive suffering from two apparent stab wounds to the neck. He died a short time later.

Jones claimed she and Yancey had a verbal dispute inside of the room, but admitted she didn't actually see Yancey cut himself.

Witnesses recalled seeing blood on Jones's hand and clothing.

Johns Hopkins video footage later showed Jones outside the hospital, reaching into her pocket and throwing something into a garbage can.

Unfortunately the object, possibly the weapon, was never recovered.

Detectives did recover a recorded phone call Jones received from an inmate.

During that call Jones was heard ranting about her frustrations with Yancey, at one point saying she was really going to hurt him.
