Two dogs found dead in wooded area in Mechanicsville

MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office is investigating an animal cruelty case involving two dead dogs found in the woods.

The incident was reported on Sunday after a Deputy responded to the 40400 block of Parlett Morgan Road in Mechanicsville. The deputy located two Black Labrador Retrievers, both weighing over 80 pounds. Officials say their bodies had been decapitated and discarded in the wooded area.

Animal Control officers were also called to the scene and they believe the dogs were disposed of two days ago.
