BERLIN, Md. — Maryland State Police are continuing to investigate a crash Wednesday that killed two 79-year-old women in Worcester County.

It happened around 6:40 p.m. on west bound Route 50/Ocean Gateway at Route 610.

Police say 44-year-old Anibal Morales Juarez, of Salisbury, was driving a Ford F-150 on Route 50 when a Nissan Versa, driven by Brenda Joyce Gotinsky, of Michigan, tried crossing over to get onto Route 610.

Gotinsky apparently failed to yield the right of way to Juarez, causing their two vehicles to collide.

Gotinsky and her passenger Kathleen Fisher Chaney, of Bishopville, died as result.

Juarez was arrested on scene for suspicion of driving under the influence. He was later released. Additional charges may later be added, according to police.

Route 50 was closed four hours following the crash.
