BALTIMORE — On Thursday, Strong City Baltimore gathered with leaders from NAACP’s Baltimore Branch, Maryland Legislative Black Caucus and the No Boundaries Coalition to announce the relaunch of the NAACP’s Mobile Health Education Unit.
This mobile unit will aid in their efforts to educate underserved communities on how to protect themselves against COVID-19.
Since January, the NAACP has partnered with dozens of organizations, like Strong City, to provide resources and vital information regarding the virus. Their goal is to reach communities of color who continue to be disproportionately impacted by the pandemic. The relaunch of the campaign encourages Baltimoreans to constantly wear masks.
“With COVID-19, every neighborhood and individual in our city is at risk. We’re fighting an enemy we cannot see. However, all of us can fight back like our lives depend on it. Because they do!," said Strong City CEO Reginald Davis. “We can wear a mask, ensure our friends and family wear masks, and equip neighborhood leaders with masks."
Through this partnership, Strong City will distribute 3,000 masks to the more than 100 community-based initiatives and programs serving Baltimore residents.
Many of the projects sponsored by Strong City work to restore and strengthen communities that suffer from health inequities amplified by the pandemic.
The organization is also a supporter of the Health Equity Resources Communities Initiative, which aims to diminish health inequities in marginalized communities and provide all Marylanders with high-quality, affordable healthcare.
