BERLIN, Md. (WMAR) — A small plane erupted in flames after making a crash landing Sunday afternoon in Worcester County.

It happened just after 2:40 p.m. in a corn field off Tall Timber Road near Makin Lake in Berlin.

Maryland State Police say they spoke to the pilot, 62-year-old Robert Bunting who told them the plane began having engine problems forcing him to land in the field.

Bunting was not hurt.

The plane, a 1976 Grumman Cor-Schweizer crop duster wasn't carrying any chemicals at the time of the crash, and it's unclear what caused the flames or engine failure.
