The stolen SUV was located by Virginia State Police after they responded to a crash in Newport News.
Police identified the driver as 27-year-old Justin Joshua Carey, with no fixed address.
It's unclear what charges he will face.

Police are looking for a suspect who allegedly broke into the Anne Arundel County Fire Academy and stole a car.
It happened sometime Wednesday on Maxwell Frye Road in Millersville.
The vehicle is a Mercury Mountaineer with Maryland Tags 1DK5784. It belongs to a member of the fire department.
Investigators have released surveillance photos of a man they believe to be the burglar.
He's thought to be homeless and frequent the Dollar General store on Veterans Highway and East West Boulevard.
