Police: 89-year-old driver in October collision dies of his injuries

CLARKSVILLE, Md. — Howard County Police confirm that the a driver that was involved in an October collision died on Saturday as a result of his injuries.

On October 25, at a little before 5 p.m., the 2002 Toyota Avalon that was being driven by 89-year-old Laurence Hunter, of Dayton, was traveling northbound on Ten Oaks Road, just past Smallwood Court, when it left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck a utility pole.

Hunter, the sole occupant in the vehicle, was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center and remained in critical condition.

Ten Oaks Road was closed for approximately four hours. The investigation is ongoing
