Pedestrian killed in Laurel crash Friday morning

LAUREL, Md. — Laurel Police are investigating a serious crash involving a pedestrian on Friday.

According to police, the crash took place at around 9:30 a.m. in the area of Bowie Road and Buckingham Court.

Upon arrival, officers and members of the fire department rendered aid to the pedestrian who died from his injuries.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the striking vehicle was traveling northbound on Bowie Road and in order to avoid striking another vehicle the driver swerved and struck a pedestrian on the sidewalk.

The driver of the striking vehicle was not injured. The Laurel Police Department’s Crash Investigation Team is handling the investigation which includes determining what factors led to the collision.

The victim has been identified and his name will be released pending additional family notifications.
