ARBUTUS, Md. — One person is dead following a multi-vehicle crash in Baltimore County on Tuesday.

Maryland State Police say they believe 29-year-old Dylan Shields was traveling north on I-95 shortly before 3:00 p.m. when he rear-ended 30-year-old Luke Souders. Investigators believe this caused a chain reaction causing two additional vehicles to become involved, a Kia Forte and a Volkswagen GTI.

Souders was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel.

Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.

The Kia Forte was operated by 52-year-old Melinda Moore. The Volkswagen GTI was operated by 42-year-old Patrick Cavanaugh. Cavanaugh was transported by ambulance to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. Moore refused medical treatment at the scene.

The Maryland State Police Crash Team is investigating this case. The investigation is ongoing.
