New vendors wanted for Lexington Market revamp

BALTIMORE — Lexington Market is looking for new vendors, as it undergoes a new $40 million dollar transformation.

Redevelopment is expected to be complete by early 2022, with room for 50 vendors and 10 additional kiosks.

More than 50 market vendors have reopened in the East Market during construction of the new Market, with social distancing and mandatory mask-wearing in place.

The deadline for vendor applications has been extended through October 5.

On Friday, the 238-year-old market revealed demographic data on the makeup of new applicants thus far.

They show 60 percent of applicants are female and 40 percent are male. Of those, 60 percent are city residents. African Americans make up 60 percent of the applicants with 25 and 15 percent being Asians and Whites respectively.
