Man seriously injured after hitting utility pole on Route 26 in Frederick County

FREDERICK, Md. — Maryland State Police are investigating a serious crash that injured a driver on Route 26 in Frederick County.

Police say the collision happened around 3 a.m. Friday on Route 26 east of Route 94.

An investigation revealed that a 2010 Toyota Corolla driving westbound on Route 26 east of Route 194 left the roadway for unknown reasons and struck a utility pole.

The driver was transported to Meritus Medical Center in Washington County with life threatening injuries.

Route 26 between Route 194 and Crum Road will be close for further investigation and repairs made to the damaged utility pole.
