BALTIMORE COUNTY — Baltimore County Police are investigating a crash that left one man dead.

Just after 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to Wilkens Avenue and I-695 in the Wilkens precinct for a deadly crash.

Crash Team investigators determined that a 2018 Kia Optima was traveling eastbound on Wilkens Avenue towards I-695.

A 2019 Toyota Highlander was making a left turn from westbound Wilkens Avenue onto the southbound I-695 ramp.

Police say the Kia failed to stop at a red traffic light, hit the Toyota on the passenger side, and then hit a pole.

The passenger of the Kia, 31-year-old Matthew Jacob Grosscup, was pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver of the Kia and the driver of the Toyota both suffered non-life threatening injuries and were taken to an area hospital.

This was the third deadly crash in Baltimore County over the weekend.

The Baltimore County Police Crash Team is continuing their work to determine all of the factors involved in this fatal crash.
