BALTIMORE — A man was killed by an Amtrack train in Baltimore while walking on the tracks.

Baltimore Police were called to the 400 block of Caton Avenue to investigate a train accident involving a pedestrian.

An Amtrak official said on Saturday that the victim was trespassing on the tracks in Baltimore when an Amtrack train hit the victim at about 9:07 p.m.

There were no injuries to the 69 passengers on board or crew members and the train was delayed for about three hours.

Baltimore Police responded to the scene to assist with the incident.

The victim’s identity will be released once next of kin notifications are completed.

Amtrak says about 2,000 people are killed or injured each year in grade crossing and pedestrian track incidents.
