COLLEGE PARK, Md. — The University of Maryland Police Department has identified and charged 20-year-old Aidan Patrick Burkhardt in connection with an October 24 assault.
According to police, on October 24, at around 2:12 a.m., the University of Maryland Police Department was notified of a 4th degree sex offense/unlawful touching that occurred at approximately 1:10 a.m., on that day.
Three individuals who were present when the incident occurred were interviewed and video was obtained capturing the incident. After the interviews were conducted, it was determined that this was an intentional act against an unsuspecting victim.
The victim sustained a minor injury. Police say based upon updates in the investigation, the incident was changed to 2nd Degree Assault. I
n addition to the criminal charge, the suspect was issued a denial to all of campus. The three individuals were referred to the Office of Student Conduct.
