A lone woman heading down an alley to get to her car in the wee hours of the morning Saturday in Towson when police say 32-year-old Jarvis Benson went out of his way to intercept her along her path.

“She was accosted by this suspect who reached out and grabbed her, made a verbal statement to her and then dragged her behind a dumpster that was in the alley, raped her and then forcibly took her by the neck as he walked her back towards the street,” said Ofc. Jennifer Peach of the Baltimore County Police Department.

As they approached West Pennsylvania Avenue, the victim broke away from her attacker and ran for help.

According to court records, she would later tell detectives the suspect had asked to kiss her and she told him ‘no’.

She remembers little of the assault except for screaming for her father.

Police in the area found Benson, who matched the description given by the victim, and during the course of being questioned, he admitted to making out with a woman in the alley, but he did not recall if he ever asked for her permission.

“It doesn’t seem to us like this would be the first time that he would commit some type of sexual assault that is this egregious,” said Peach, “We believe that it’s highly likely that he’s been involved in other sexual assaults or other types of crimes.”

“If you recognize the suspect or you believe he may have been involved in any other incidents before, you can call the Special Victims Unit at the number 410-307-2020.
