Rosedale stabbing victim dies, suspect already charged

ROSEDALE — A man stabbed January 3 outside his home in Rosedale has died.

It happened last Saturday around 4:30 pm in the 1000 block of Sumter Avenue.

The 21-year old victim was walking out of his home, at which time the suspect happened to be nearby.

Police say 47-year-old James John Marchsteiner III, was armed with a knife and began yelling at the victim.

He allegedly ran towards the victim, stabbing him multiple times.

Marchsteiner was still on scene when police arrived and taken into custody.

The victim who police have not yet named, died days later.

Police haven't said if there was any connection between the victim and suspect.
