BALTIMORE — Firefighters are investigating the cause of a home explosion in Pigtown.

Crews were called Tuesday afternoon to the 1100 block of Bayard Street in Baltimore.

The explosion impacted multiple homes.

Officials confirmed three people were hurt, two females ages 16 and 48 are now stable, the 70-year-old male remains in critical condition.

BGE released a statement on the matter saying that service has been turned off for both 1121 and 1123 Bayard.

BGE is on the scene of an incident at 1121 Bayard Street in Baltimore City. BGE turned off service to 1121 and 1123 Bayard and remains onsite to assist Baltimore City first responders. Once the location is deemed safe for access, we will assist Baltimore City Fire Department in its investigation as to the cause of the incident. BGE completed upgrades in October to the gas main that services the 1100 block of Bayard Street.
