Inmate dies at Maryland Correctional Training Center, state police investigating

HAGERSTOWN, Md. — Maryland State Police are investigating the death of an inmate at Maryland Correctional Training Center.

The inmate has been identified as 36-year-old Christopher Dorsey. Dorsey was a state prison inmate serving time at the Maryland Correctional Training Center in Hagerstown.

His cause and manner of death are pending an autopsy being conducted at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore.

At about 3:45 p.m. Thursday, the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit were contacted by investigators from the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services Intelligence and Investigative Division (DPSCS IID) about an inmate death.

Investigators told Maryland State Police that Dorsey was found unresponsive in his cell and pronounced dead by emergency medical personnel.

Maryland State Police Homicide Unit investigators are continuing the investigation begun by the DPSCS IID. Assistance has been provided by Maryland State Police crime scene technicians.

When completed, the investigation will be presented to the Washington County State’s Attorney’s Office for review regarding charges.
