ELLICOTT CITY, Md. — Howard County has finalized its $1.725 million purchase of the the five-acre Savage remainder property.
The county says they intend to preserve the property, which is located west of Savage Mill, for open space and public use at Savage Park.
Since 2013 there had been talk of redeveloping and dividing the property into anywhere from 15 to 35 units per acre.
“We listened to and heard the concerns from the Savage community and will preserve this valuable green space that connects to Savage Park while contributing to the quality of life of all our residents,” said County Executive Calvin Ball.
The property is also designated by the State of Maryland as a Targeted Ecological Area, reserved for lands and watersheds of high ecological value that have been identified as conservation priorities.
