WEST FRIENDSHIP, Md. — A 32-year-old horse is safe and sound after emergency crews in Howard County rescued him from a mud pit Monday.

Hershey had been trapped for several hours in the 11800 block of Old Frederick Road.

A team made up of firefighters, a veterinarian, and members of the Gentle Giants Draft Horse Rescue used several tools including a crane to lift Hershey out of the mud.
