ELLICOTT CITY, Md. — Wednesday is National First Responder’s Day.

To honor first responders, Howard County Executive Calvin Ball, the Opioid Crisis Community Council, and Recovery Orientation Systems of Care took time to acknowledge and celebrate their work in the battle against the opioid crisis.

They say the challenges first responders have faced and adapted to in 2020 are a testament to their professionalism and dedication to keeping Howard County safe.

"My charge to you is to continue tomorrow, next week, next month, and beyond to remember, acknowledge, and honor our first responders, our heroes,” said Ball.

A resolution designating October 28 as Honoring the Nation's First Responders Day unanimously passed the Senate in June of 2019.
