BALTIMORE — A Baltimore school is honoring a longtime political icon.
Green Street Academy cut the ribbon on their Elijah Cummings Innovation Center Thursday morning.
The charter school says the new center will include an agricultural technology center, an innovation center focused on technology and pre-engineering, and a space for students to run GSA farms, their student-run business.
Harry Preston V will oversee the center.
The educator says the best part about getting all of this set up has been working with the students on what they want out of it and he sees their accomplishments as out of this world.
"My goal here with this center is to give students opportunities. They talk about building ships. I'm thinking not boats, but spaceships, an opportunity not just, 'look at what we can see,' but go far beyond."
Green Street Academy was founded in 2010 with a focus on preparing students both for college and for specific careers.
