BALTIMORE — An important step to fighting the coronavirus, get your flu shot.
It's something one group was giving out for free today at the West Baltimore YMCA on Druid Hill Avenue.
Those who went didn't need to pay even if they didn't have insurance and no appointments were needed.
It wasn't just flu shots however. The sponsors, Amerigroup Maryland and Total Health Care along with the YMCA also administered free coronavirus tests.
A Y spokesperson says events like these are needed so everyone in the community has access to both flu shots and COVID testing.
"Not everyone has access for numerous reasons, but we are here, we are blocks away from numerous families, and our parking lot is open to make this possible for the community for folks that feel safe and obviously to get a sense of if they have contracted COVID."
That event was just for today but it's far from the only one giving out free flu shots.
