BALTIMORE — A former Baltimore Police officer will spend the next 6.5 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to child pornography charges.
Upon completing his sentence, 35-year-old James Robert Wissmann, IV, will be placed on 25-years of supervised release, and have to register as a sex offender.
After his home was raided on July 31 last year, Wissmann was suspended from the police department and subsequently resigned.
Prosecutors said Wissman created multiple accounts on a mobile app in which he discussed, shared and received child porn through video chatting, file sharing, and messaging.

The application monitored the activity and shut down Wissmann’s accounts, but each time he would create a new one.
They ultimately reported him.
Although Wissmann took many steps to avoid detection, investigators seized several electronic devices from his home, and found several videos and images.
