CATONSVILLE, md. — A firefighter suffered minor injuries and two people died in a fire in Catonsville on Friday morning.
The fire started before 7 a.m. in the 1300 block of Denbright Road. Firefighters say the flames started in the basement and spread to the first floor of the family home.
Baltimore County Fire Department previously confirmed one elderly woman had been critically injured. As of Friday afternoon, fire officials say two people have died as a result of the fire.
Officials say 93-year-old Avonne Schwartz and 54-year-old Timothy Schwartz have been identified as the victims.
The firefighter that fell through the first floor while attempting to rescue the occupants was treated and released.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
