CROWNSVILLE, Md. — A 76-year-old woman died after being pulled from a burning home in Crownsville on Friday.

Anne Arundel County Fire crews were called just after 10:30 am to the 800 block of Generals Highway.

They arrived to find flames spreading throughout the home.

Firefighters found Helen Collins, on the first floor of the home.

She passed away shortly after being rescued.

Two other adults and a child made it out, but are left without a home. The Red Cross has been called in to help.

A firefighter suffered minor burns to the ears and was taken to a hospital.

It took nearly 50 firefighters about an hour to put out the flames.

They had to fight the fire from outside the home, over fears it would collapse.

The incident caused Generals Highway between Veterans & Indian Landing Roads to close for several hours.

Investigators are still looking into the cause of the fire.
