TALBOT COUNTY, Md. — An accidental fire caused damages to exceed $1 million to a storage facility in Easton.
On Saturday at about 6:39 am, volunteer fire departments throughout Talbot County were called to a Commercial Building fire located at 8050 Industrial Park Road in Easton.
A passerby alerted 911 to the fire, and when firefighters arrived, they were faced with heavy smoke conditions throughout the building. The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office responded to the location and initiated an investigation into the origin and cause of the fire.
The fire was determined to be accidental in nature due to an electrical malfunction within a commercial scissor lift, being stored in the inside of the building.
The property, owned by Konsyl Pharmaceuticals, is a 55,000 square foot storage facility. Due to the size of property, the estimated damages exceed $1 million.
The fire department response went to three alarms, and the fire was controlled and extinguished within a couple hours.
Over 100 firefighters responded from Talbot, Caroline and Dorchester Counties to assist with the incident. There were no injuries due to the incident.
