WASHINGTON DC — Kevin Hulbert is the Co-Founder of Patriot Picket.
The mission statement on their website says they are law- abiding, Gun-owning American Patriots who assemble peacefully to fiercely oppose—by lawful pickets and sign protests— the infringement of their Second Amendment Right to keep and Bear Arms.
On Wednesday he took a charter bus down to Washington DC from the Eastern Shore.
Hulbert says he’s been to a lot of protests, but the energy on Wednesday was different.
He shared some of the videos and pictures with us as the events unfolded.
“I noticed the crowd was surging up toward the west lawn of the capital," he said. "I heard people shouting, there was people pushing down fences to get into the capital and there had been some tear gassing and flash bang grenades possibly being detonated by capital police.”
He said he could see people climbing over the West Lawn.
“They were using the bicycle racks that the police use for crowd control. They turned the bicycle racks into ladders, and they were urging people to climb the bicycle racks as ladders up the walls.”
He said he expected something much milder to happen, and that he had been to other protests that had remained peaceful.
“I’m sickened by it; I can’t believe that this happened. I, of course, did not witness what took place on the east front of the capital because I never left the west front. I think this is going to probably signal to the entire country that people are really upset about the fraud alleged to have happened in the election.“
Hulbert said he’s shocked that this happened but not surprised because he said there are a lot of voters who feel they’ve been cheated out of their vote.
He says he went with the intention of being of a part of a peaceful protest and that was his experience before Wednesday.
