MOUNT AIRY, Md. — A Westminster man faces multiple charges after DNA evidence linked him to a Mount Airy home invasion last October.

Eric Eugene Mooney, 44, was allegedly dressed in a yellow reflective work vest with a mask and hard hat when he drove up to a home in the 5300 block of Legion Drive, on October 9.

He eventually forced his way inside the home, assaulted a woman and stole money before fleeing in a white pickup truck.

Luckily she was okay and treated by medics on scene.

Police recovered multiple pieces of evidence and submitted them to the lab. The results tied Mooney to the scene, prompting an arrest warrant to be issued on July 15.

He was arrested six days later in Westminster on several charges including assault, robbery, burglary and home invasion.

It's unclear if he and the victim knew each other

Mooney is currently being held without bail and is scheduled for an August 18 preliminary court hearing.
