BALTIMORE — Just after 6:30 p.m. on Monday, a CSX train derailed approximately 21 railcars near Sisson and West 24th Streets in Baltimore.
According to CSX, there were no hazardous materials involved and no injuries to the train crew. The derailed cars were either empty or carrying pulpwood or sand.
At this time, CSX is working closely with Baltimore fire and police departments as well as the Maryland Department of Transportation.
"The safety of the community and everyone on site is our top priority as we develop a recovery plan," they said in a statement.
