FREDERICK COUNTY — A cat and dog were killed in a Frederick County house fire.

Frederick County Fire and Rescue units were called at about 3:32 pm to a house fire in the 10400 block of Pleasant Vista Drive in Frederick.

With reports of unknown people inside, the call was upgraded to an entrapment.

Units arrived to find all residents had self-evacuated home and heavy fire showing.

A tanker task force and Rapid Intervention Dispatch were quickly requested. It took about 60 firefighters from all over the county an hour to bring the fire under control and an additional two hours to extinguish hotspots and perform overhaul.

Two adults have been displaced from the home and a dog and cat perished as a result of the fire.

The Frederick County Fire Marshal’s Office is on the scene investigating.
