BPD: Suspect in June 2020 homicide arrested and charged with murder

BALTIMORE — Baltimore Police arrested and charged the suspect that was responsible for a June 2020 homicide on Saturday.

On June 8, 2020, officers responded to a shot spotter alert in the area of the 1400 block of Orleans Street. Officers arrived and found 30-year-old Gerald Jones, of the 1500 block of May Court, sitting in his vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Jones died at Johns Hopkins Hospital shortly after.

Homicide detectives investigating this murder and were able to identify the suspect and obtain an arrest warrant.

On Saturday, at approximately 8:50 p.m., detectives arrested 35-year-old Troy Veney, of the 1000 block of N. Broadway, in the 200 block of N. Caroline Street.

Veney was transported to Central Booking, where he was officially charged with the 1st degree murder of Jones. He is currently being held without bail.
