BALTIMORE — Baltimore Police say an officer discharged his weapon in an Upton neighborhood Tuesday afternoon.

Just after 1 p.m., officers received a call for an armed person following a robbery in the 200 Block of McMechen Street.

When they arrived, they found the man with a knife who police say proceeded to flee.

Officers were able to catch-up with the suspect and told him to drop the weapon were ignored.

Tasers were deployed, but were ineffective on the individual. He then fled again into the Subway Station in the 600 Block of Laurens Street, where officers continued to give verbal demands to the suspect, telling him to drop his weapon.

Police say that after failing to comply, the suspect ran at officers with the knife and an officer discharged his weapon.

The suspect was not struck.

Neither the suspect nor officers were injured.
