BALTIMORE, md. — A mother has confessed to killing her toddler.
On December 28, 2019, at approximately 7:30 p.m., 1 year-old Kaleb Shaw was transported to Johns Hopkins Hospital by the Baltimore City Fire Department. He died a short time later at the hospital.
An autopsy was conducted and it was initially determined that Kaleb Shaw died from natural causes.
In August of 2020, the mother of Kaleb Shaw contacted authorities informing them that she suffocated her son in December of 2019. As a result of this new information, the death was ruled a homicide and an arrest warrant was obtained for Shakira Shaw.
On September 14, 2020, 22-year old Shakira Shaw was arrested by members of the Baltimore Police Department Warrant Apprehension Taskforce. She was transported to the Central Booking and Intake Facility where she was formally charged with murder.
