BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. — While attempting to arrest two suspects from a 2021 murder case, Baltimore County Police officers shot a person who tried ramming them with a car in Dundalk Thursday afternoon.

Police said the two suspects were standing outside around 1 p.m. when officers arrived. Officers said the driver of an Infinity then attempted to ram police patrol cars , and that's when officers fired shots and injured the person, according to police.

Police rendered aid to the driver, who was taken to the hospital. The suspect's condition is unknown at this time.

Family told WMAR-2 News, off camera, that the name of the driver of the car was 19-year-old Shane Radomski.

"It’s a little disheartening to find out that the shooting happened in the neighborhood. It’s fairly quiet most of the time," said Michelle Gray, who lives in the neighborhood.

Police say the shooting took place in the area of Maryland Avenue and Avon Beach Road.

"Officers were in this area attempting to arrest two individuals in relation to a 2021 homicide," Baltimore County PIO Joy Stewart said. "While they were attempting to make those arrests, a vehicle on scene began to ram into one of our officer’s vehicles. As that was happening, our officers discharged their firearms."

Family of the driver said he was shot multiple times, and he wasn't even one of the suspects police were after.

His brother told WMAR-2 off camera "I just watched my best friend get shot."

Friends who didn't want to show their face said the gunfire was unnecessary.

"There was no need to fire that many rounds in the front window of someone’s car," a neighbor said.

Five officers were at the scene, and none of them were injured.

Police said, per protocol, the officers who fired the shots have been placed on administrative leave.

Officers did not say which murder case the suspects are accused in.

Police did say four people in total were arrested in connection to the 2021 murder.
