ROSEDALE, Md. — Baltimore County Police are investigating an officer involved shooting in Rosedale.

Sgt. Vickie Warehime said police got a call from someone who lives on Spring Ave saying a man was chopping tree branches and throwing them into the middle of the road.

“I have some neighbors that kind of live up here periodically up the street and nobody’s really heard anything like this very strange,” said Emily McCord who lives nearby.

When police got on scene they found the suspect still in the middle of the road.

“We got an updated call that said the suspect was now in the middle of the street by the double yellow lines waving what appeared to be a long chain waving it back and fourth,” Warehime said.

People we talked to who were out here say they heard someone screaming and saw a man frantically running around.

An eye witness told us they saw a man charge at police and saw an officer fire a shot at him hitting him once in the chest area.

After the suspect was shot he ran and collapsed in Philadelphia Rd. where police took him into custody.

“We know this behavior is erratic behavior," Warehime said. “No one wants to cut down branches that aren’t yours in your neighborhood in the middle of the street. “

Police said the suspect was taken to Bayview hospital and was conscious and alert.

The officer involved is being interviewed and will be put on administrative leave pending the investigation.
