TOWSON, Md. — Police have made an arrest in the December 27 murder of Dunbar High School assistant Principal, Shelton Stanley.

On January 4 police arrested 23-year-old Zayeed Quinton Abdul Muhaimin in San Diego, California.

Baltimore County Police were initially asked to do a welfare check at Stanley's home, in the 4800 block of Hawksbury Road, after family members were unable to reach him by phone.

That's when officers found him dead inside suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Detectives believe Muhaimin had been staying with Stanley at his home, and fled to California after the murder.

Police couldn't confirm how the two knew each other.

Investigators are still looking into a motive.

Muhaimin is in the process of being extradited back to Maryland on murder charges.
