TOWSON, Md. — Baltimore County is expanding information it posts to an online dashboard that intends to show where taxpayer dollars are being spent.

Originally started in June 2019 under the name Open Budget, the updated version is called Open Checkbook and will include the county's most recent actual expenditures from Fiscal Year 2020 for residents to compare against adopted amounts.

“Our residents deserve to know exactly how their money is spent, and this new tool will bring an unprecedented level of transparency to County spending,” Olszewski said. “Transparency and accountability lead to an effective government, which is why we will continue to seek new ways to shine a light on Baltimore County operations.”

Anyone can still explore revenue and expenses related to prior specific programs and services.
