BALTIMORE — A Baltimore City Police officer was involved in a car wreck Wednesday evening in Southwest Baltimore.

A car attempted to turn left onto Old Frederick Road, in front of the patrol car, and the officer lost control and crashed off the side of the road.

Police said the patrol car struck another car, then a pole and caught fire.

The officer was taken to the hospital but is expected to be OK.
