ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, Md. — Anne Arundel County Police have always been there in the time of need and that hasn't stopped because of the pandemic.

Actually, they've picked up the pace a little bit. County police officers have been collecting goods in the Northern District to take to those in senior centers and assisted living facilities.

Seniors have been restricted more that almost all of us. Aware of the isolation, Lt. Elizabeth Smith wanted to make sure her seniors citizens were not forgotten.

"The interaction police and fire can have inside a nursing home or an assisted living facility can go a super, super long way and make people feel happy and make them feel normal. Really we all just want to feel normal, we just want to get back to normal. That's kind of what this is about. Help them one step at a time trying to get back to normal," she said.

Officers at the Northern District station will be distributing these items to senior centers in the area throughout the week..
