ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Police say an Annapolis man was scammed out of $7000, when someone falsely claiming to represent Norton Antivirus Security emailed and said they owed money.

To clear up the matter, the email apparently said to call 805-454-1512.

At some point the victim gave whoever answered the phone, access to his computer.

The unidentified person on the other line then locked the owner out of their own computer.

Later, that same suspect reportedly told the victim that $8000.00 had accidentally been deposited into his bank account, and he would need to pay it back.

Police say the victim believed it, and internationally wired the money to an account given to him on the phone.
