Amtrak train strikes, kills pedestrian trespassing on tracks

LANHAM, Md. (WMAR) — An Amtrak train struck and killed a pedestrian Monday morning just north of New Carrollton.

Prince George's County Police and Fire were called just after 5:15 a.m. to the intersection of Carter Avenue and Lanham Severn Road.

The pedestrian died on scene.

According to Amtrak, the pedestrian was trespassing on the tracks when they were struck by Train 170.

Passengers aboard the train were transferred to Train 180, heading through New York up to Boston.
